LAKE LOUISE IS Canada’s diamond in the wilderness,” Steve began. “If you enjoy skiing, this is the place to be in the winter. The area has many glaciers and waterfalls. And the hiking trails provide hours of adventure.”

He turned to whisper to Lindsey. “It’s also the romance capital of Canada.” He winked.

Lindsey placed her hand on her stomach to settle the butterflies Steve’s wink summoned. She smiled to herself as she listened to him.

“Lake Louise is also Canada’s highest community at 5,020 feet. Again, the water here reflects green due to the glacier’s silt in the water. This extremely popular tourist attraction has been known to change a person’s life perspective. Even if you don’t have a life altering experience, it certainly won’t be one that you will forget.”

Once again, Lindsey admired the words that Steve chose to describe the places they were seeing. She came on this trip with the hope of changing her life’s perspective and knew that no matter what else happened, she wouldn’t forget the experience.

“Expect to see much wildlife on this part of our trip. Remember my warnings of making noise to avoid the bears. And, please do not feed any of the animals. We do not want to domesticate them and have them approach humans. That behavior only leads to trouble. You will have a few hours to spend walking the trails and admiring the landscape.”

“What about dinner?” shouted a deep male voice from the back of the bus. Lindsey didn’t have to turn around to know who was asking that question.

Steve laughed. “Dinner tonight is a very special treat. The Banff Springs Hotel has one of the most exclusive, and romantic restaurants. I hope all of you remembered to bring a change of clothes. The hotel has changing rooms for us to freshen up in, and we will have about two hours to ourselves before we come together for a group meal.

“Does anyone else have any questions?” Steve addressed the group. “I’d like to say again how much Don and I have enjoyed having you as our guests. With each group we see things through fresh eyes, and I appreciate all that you’ve given me personally on this trip.”

Lindsey was in awe. She’d never known a man to be so open with his compliments and his feelings. On the flip side, she saw Don glaring at her once again in the mirror. She was getting used to ignoring him, but felt his anger towards her increasing.

When the hotel came into view, Lindsey thought she had traveled to another country. The castle was situated in between the mountains and right at the base of the lake. It looked like something out of a fairy tale, and she blinked hard to make sure that her eyes weren’t deceiving her. Lindsey couldn’t imagine the cost to stay there for a vacation.

The place was fit for royalty. She let her mind wander a bit with that fantasy, and envisioned her and Steve roaming the halls of the castle and checking on their rooms full of children.
